Project 2: Analysis Report
After learning about historical architecture in the previous project, students were to learn about modern architecture history in Malaysia. In order to gain the objective of understanding the modern Malaysian architectural practices chronologically throughout history, students needed to conduct a research comparative analysis through a literature review on Malaysian architecture. We were required to document and present our analysis on an A4 sized illustrative chronology booklet of Modern Malaysian Architecture that incorporates architectural language and influences that shape the development of Malaysian architecture that we see today. Throughout our documentation process, critical thinking and the use of visual diagramming for precedent studies were expected to be applied by students in this project.
Reflection:
Thanks to this project, I have the opportunity to better know some of the notable buildings in Malaysia that played a role in moulding the identity of Malaysian society with its significance in its value of architecture. The process of conducting research on the factors that contributed to the development of form as well as how the historical periods are represented architecturally enabled me to gain a newfound appreciation towards the beauty of Malaysian architecture and the value that it brings.
During the course of the semester, my tutors have been helpful in regard to my assignments. I particularly liked the system whereby tutors are changed for each different assignment, it allows me to experience different teaching methods and also different perspectives. The instructions were clear and all resources were being placed in one single software in Times, which makes it easy to get needed resources. Announcements were also delivered soundly through both Facebook & Telegram to ensure every student did not miss out on any important announcement.
