Project 02: Recollected
With basic comprehension of materiality and detailing as a means to capture experiential qualities, and also through the utilization of architectonics, the main task of this project is to design and craft an introspective architectural folly with quality spatial experience.
The folly intends to express the reality of truth we all face in this difficult time during the pandemic through its journey of the loop. By creating a journey that forks between the past, present, and the future, the users will realize that once things are done, we can never turn back time. Through self-introspection, users will contemplate and decide on their own whether they are willing to let go of the past. The journey comes to an end once the user reaches the realization stage and is free to leave the space.
Since there were no limitations as to how a folly should look, a lot of experiential and exploration opportunities was provided through this project. It was an explorative project and it was fun to develop the folly design together with different ideas from other group members. Overall, I was able to develop a better understanding of basic construction and materiality in architectural design. With the introduction of the new term 'architectonic', it was also an insightful experience to learn to implement that into our folly design to express our design intentions.
